Wyming Brook

Wyming Brook

After long deliberation I have decided to treat myself to an early christmas present and buy a Nikon D7100, and what better place to take it for a test than the Peak District. I chose Wyming Brook, which is an area that I've wanted to visit for a while. I might have left it a little too late to get the best of the Autumn colours, but I think they turned out pretty well. As for the camera, very impressed with it, and even though a few things have changed, its really easy to pick and use straight away. It feels more robust and the quality of the images are very impressive! Im hoping to get out more over the christmas period and use it, so hopefully more regular updates!

Peak

Peak

Haven't had much time to do any photography in the last week or so, but I did manage to get to the peaks one afternoon in time for sunset. As I got there, the clouds began to move in and the wind became almost too much! I stuck my ground and managed to get one half decent shot from my time, so not an entirely wasted afternoon!

Deer Rut 2013 - Bradgate Park..

Deer Rut 2013 - Bradgate Park..

A few more shots from the Deer rut this year at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. I was hoping to make it out again before it ended, but the bad weather and work halted any more attempts. I think I got enough though for this year, certainly an improvement from any previous attempts. Ill be sure to  get out next year as early as possible!

Deer Rut 2013 - Bradgate Park

Deer Rut 2013 - Bradgate Park

The reason I was so slow to update my India photos is because I've spent a few of my spare days/afternoons at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire shooting the Deer Rut. This happens every October here. I only just found out in time about the rut, and decided Id have a go at photographing it. I've been to the park quite a few times before, but never really had an success in photographing them. I think this time I had a bit better luck! Ill post some more at the weekend, but for now he's a few shots I got from the deer rut.

India...

India...

The last few shots from my trip to India. These are mainly from the holy city of Varanasi on the banks of the river Ganges. This was possibly my favourite place to visit, the place is even more crazy than the other area we visited. As its a holy city, its always full of people coming here, either to bathe in the river, to be cremated in one of the river side 'Ghats' or just join in the celebrations that take place each night. A sunset and sunrise Ganges cruise provided some incredible memories, although the mixture of low light and a rocky boat hindered the chances of any really great shots!

India..

India..

A few more from my trip to India, trying a few different techniques such as panning, with varied results. The best couple are below. I was hoping that I would be able to post a few tiger shots, as we went on safari to find them. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. Its a shame, to see and photograph tigers in the wild would be fantastic! I had to settle for a few monkeys instead!

India

India

Im back from India and have a lot of photos to sort through. India is such a crazy, amazing place! Everywhere you turn there is endless photo opportunities. Definitely one of my favourite places and one to return to. Only scratching the surface of this amazing country, seeing a small amount of northern India, there is certainly a lot more to see and photograph! Its going to take a while to sort though the better shots, so for now Ill post a couple and try to keep this updated with more pics as I get the chance.

Trip away

Trip Away

Its been a while since I've posted anything, and unfortunately it will be a few weeks yet until I do. I've been busy with work and the little time I've had off has been used to prepare for my trip to India. I'm off in less than a week, so fingers crossed I will have a lot to post on here by mid October!

More Peak Landscapes

More Peak Landscapes

I went back to the peak district again this week, this time on my own, to try and get a few more shots. Im getting into the landscape stuff more and more, and although I missed the sunset, I still think I got a few half decent shots. I also managed to get a shot of the full moon the other day too. Not from the peaks, but from my back garden.

Long time no post

Long time no post

Its been a long time since Ive posted anything, so its long over due that I put a few shots up on here. I went out for an afternoon/evening shooting with Stephen Elliott into the peak district on Monday. The weather was typical british summer, cloudy, rainy and then sunny! This gave us some great light to use. We visited a few locations and waited for the light to be right. We didn't manage to get a sunset, due to the clouds rolling in, but we did get some great light. I really like the colours of the heather thats out on the peaks at this time of year.

Sunset in the Peaks

Sunset in the Peaks

A few weeks back I decided, one sunday evening, to get back into the peaks at sunset and try my hand at some more landscapes. Having not done a great deal of landscapes since my day with Richard, I thought it was about time. I think I'm now hooked, the light was fantastic and really made a big difference to the pictures. I've put a few below, but I have a few more to edit and will hopefully post them too.
